BACKING UP YOUR COMPUTERS
Where's the reverse switch???

Total system backups can be a pain.  They however are often necessary to insure rapid recovery of a downed machine.  Total system backups include all files, the operating system etc. allowing the computer to be brought back to its original state before a catastrophic failure like a hard drive crash.

Without a total system backup you may face issues like the "Where's the window disk" syndrome or the "Oh my god the licensing of our proprietary software product X isn't working."

Nowdays the biggest challenge in restoring a computer is not hardware but software licensing.   All too often people find that the expensive software they purchased isn't licensed for a new machine, or the licensing info has been lost and the software cannot be reinstalled.

Most of these issues can be avoided by periodically creating a full image of your computer.  In some cases it may be possible to use a single image on multiple machines should the need arise.   A proper backup plan should allow you to backup or restore a full image in twenty minutes.   In a properly configured network individual machines become effectively disposable.  Pull the broken computer, insert the spare, reload, reboot and ready.    Repair the old machine at your leisure.

This whole process can be done for next to nothing with the right tools and knowledge.   In fact, if you have enough free disk space available somewhere in your network, this  system can be set up without any software or hardware costs

Imaging combined with daily backups can avoid a lot of pain.  Sit down and think about what your life would be like if the computer you are working on were to suddenly let the smoke out of the hard drive.

IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND YOUR BACKUP SYSTEM,
YOU DON'T HAVE A BACKUP SYSTEM!

IF YOU DON'T KNOW YOUR BACKUP SYSTEM IS WORKING,
YOU DON'T HAVE A BACKUP SYSTEM!

I could tell you in a couple paragraphs or less how to do this, but hey, I'm in it for the money too.  I'm also in it to build a business and I believe the best way to grow business is to retain business.   My job is to use my decades of experience to take you on the shortest path to the best solution.  One that is cost effective, simple, and whenever possible elegant.   The best solution is not always the easiest solution.

Sure, I can remove your spyware, increase your performance, fix windows whatever the *****, and fix the mundane stuff that goes wrong with computers.   It is not however, my passion.  I would much rather work with you to prevent these things from happening, to prepare for when they do happen anyway and whenever possible make it impossible for them to happen in the first place.   I would rather aid you in the digital logistics of growing your business, because in the long run, that grows my business.

That said, I could explain how to do a full image backup but I want you to understand how it works, and why it works so that you can take full advantage of the tools available.   That is not something I can explain in a couple paragraphs.
